Lifeless by J.M. LaRocca Blog Tour - Review & Dream Cast

Hi! Kelli here, and I'm proud to welcome you to our stop on the Lifeless Blog Tour! This book has been getting some pretty good reviews and I was glad to have the opportunity to share my feelings with you.

Book Blurb:
Ages 18+ due to sexual content and language

After graduating from the University of South Alabama, Scarlett Moore discovers her boyfriend of five months is actually married with a child on the way. Feeling used and heartbroken, she decides it’s time to take her best friend Jules’ advice to move to Atlanta and live with her. There, Jules helps her get a job at Entertainment Atlanta, where she works as an entertainment insurance agent. It’s not Scarlett’s dream job, but it’s better than not having a job at all, and who wouldn’t mind working with famous people, right?

Then she gets assigned to EA’s newest client, Kade Evans, rock star turned actor. Not only is he a drug addict, he’s also known for never dating the same girl twice. He’s tall, dark, and handsome, has an amazing voice, and good acting skills, but he’s also arrogant and intense.

At their first meeting, the chemistry between them is undeniable.

The love that comes later is unexpected.

But Kade’s life is full of secrets. His past has now intruded on his present and when Scarlett finds out what his secrets are, the real deception begins.

MY REVIEW:
I thought Lifeless was a pretty solid book. There is a lot more to this story than the summary/description lets on.
But first, let's talk characters. Scarlett, our heroine, is quite naive. Given her background I assumed she'd have a little more common sense. Nope. I found her to be an interesting voice, but extremely annoying at times. And she's very wishy-washy in her thoughts/feelings/actions. Her best friend, Jules was pretty similar. The girls could be interchangeable IMO. Kade, the swoonworthy rockstar is still the most interesting character and NOT because he's hot. I mean, he is, but he's got that whole mystery holding him back and I was dying to know his secret. And Bryce! Whoa... Watch your back, Kade, because he's nipping at your heels on the hottie front AND the mystery aspect.
The story itself is good. Scarlett finds out her boyfriend is married and moves away to heal. She moves in with her best friend and ends up working for the same company. I had trouble understanding exactly what their job entailed at first, but I suppose that's a minor detail of the story. I will say that the chemistry between Kade and Scarlett is scorching hot. And the sex scenes are hot! Whew! Keep a fan nearby to cool off. The story is fast-paced and will keep you glued to your ereader. Especially when you realize Kade is hiding something - something big. Once this comes out, things really begin to pick up. We meet some new characters and are left with even more questions. Damn! I will definitely be picking up the second book to see exactly what Kade has been hiding. And we've gotta find out if he and Scarlett will be able to move past it and hold on to a relationship. I really enjoyed this book and think the majority of NA fans who love romance and mystery will too.
