The Last Husband (Forever Love #2) by JS Cooper

Description
Lucky wanted a guy to be her last boyfriend but she never counted on love not being enough.

Lucky Morgan fantasized about the hot guy from her diner for months. And when he offered her a dream job, she jumped at the chance to get to know him better.

Zane Beaumont was skeptical about love and guarded his heart. Even though he was falling for Lucky, he was still scared to fully let go. So he makes a decision that may ruin their once chance at happiness.

Both of their lives are turned upside down by some unexpected news and Lucky has to decide, once and for all, if Zane is the guy she wants to spend her forever with.

Kelli's Review
The Last Husband thankfully picks up right where The Last Boyfriend left off. There's no down time or catching up of the story from months ago, which some sequels have the tendency to do. I wasn't sure what to expect from this book considering how the first ended, but I was definitely stunned in some parts. This IS a sequel, so if you haven't read The Last Boyfriend, do it before picking this one up.

Right off the bat, Zane pissed me off. Just when I think everything has been worked out, he does things that make me want to punch him. His hesitance to fully commit drove me crazy, especially considering what they both thought had possibly happened due to carelessness in book one. And Lucky... she's trusting but you can also see her begin to doubt their relationship. So if you're looking for an angst-filled book, The Last Husband delivers.

Cooper also introduces us to some new characters. One of whom I absolutely loved!! The pacing of this story works. It's nice when a book makes you feel the need to read no matter the hour of day. Plus, be prepared (if you can) for some shockers! In my head several times while reading I'd say things like, "wtf" or "omg". As with any book, there are instances that make you want to punch a character, laugh loudly and some may even cry. I feel like I still don't completely understand Zane's story, and therefore his actions, but I liked this better than The Last Boyfriend. It's a story of growth and learning to trust each other as well as fully giving in to love. Very cute!
