Heartbreak, love, loss and hope--This story has it all, In Spades.

Okay. The prologue to this book sucked me in. It was intense and of course left me with questions that I needed the answers to.
In Spades is a lot shorter than I expected it to be. There were many things I liked about this book and a few things I didn't care much for. As a narrator/protagonist/heroine, I loved how driven Ava was. She didn't let her past hold her back from achieving what she wanted. But she was also in no way perfect, and considering what she had been through, I appreciated the author's attempts to show her brokenness. The story has a great flow. I did have a few issues with pacing - simply because it seemed we went from day to day life events and then suddenly fast forwarded months ahead. Once she meets Daxton, her entire outlook on life changes. They have quite a quick courtship and he sticks with her even after he sees her in a moment of weakness.
The events from her past always seemed to be unfinished. I was expecting the big twist that happened near the end. And also, the OTHER event that occurs. Even though I wasn't shocked, I liked both. Warning: THIS BOOK CONTAINS A HUGE CLIFFHANGER.
Overall, I'd say I enjoyed In Spades. It's a very quick read and you'll grow attached to Abby - she's one of the best parts of the story. I'd like to read the second book to get some closure of the final "bombs" that were dropped. :)
Welcome K. Pinson to Alphas Authors & Books Oh My. Thank you so much for sitting down for an interview with us. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Thank you all for having me! :) I'm a big fan of the blog and honored to be interviewed by y'all.
Well, let's see. For starters, I'm a big book nerd. I love to read. That is what started this whole crazy journey. I'm 22 years old and live in a small farm town in Michigan where everybody knows everybody. I'm a manager for an assisted living program working with mentally challenged adults. I work crazy hours and love my clients. I have every intention on becoming a music therapist.

Can you describe the In Spades in 30 words or less?
Hot rockstar with multiple personalities :p enter in heroine who has a lot to overcome but strength to get there, cue in amazing little girl with autism...all coming together to create a beautiful mess of hope.

Is it a standalone, duologue, a part of a series?
Part of a series...two of which will be these characters as main roles.

Where do you drawl inspiration for this story? A previous experience? Something else?
Life. It happens. It hit me and many others full force in the face and I wanted to get it into words and hopefully inspire others as well.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer and what inspired your first book?
I have always enjoyed putting pen to paper, but as far as actually publishing a novel...not until about a year ago. The inspiration comes from personal experiences, friends, family and just life in general.

You have some amazing characters in your books, who was your favorite and/or most difficult character to write?
My favorite is probably Daxton..I love him..Haha..and as far as most difficult..they are all difficult in their own rite. Male pov isn't a strong suit for me. Avalynn makes me wanna slap her and hug her in the same breath..she is the most like me. Abby I struggle with getting her mannerisms and speech down..but it is so important to me to make this little girl heard.

How long on average does it take you to write a book and what is the hardest part about writing?
With my work schedule...several months..but I can bust out an outline like nobody's business..it's just finding time to actually hear my characters speak. I would say the hardest part is just letting go...not overthinking what you want to say or how people will like what you're saying. Learning to write what's meant to be heard.

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
I have so many. I think if we are going back I would say Fahrenheit 451, the great Gatsby, perks of being a wallflower...now a day novels are the opportunist, thoughtless series, and the edge of never.I think in every interview I do, I choose new favorites because it's impossible for me to choose.

Do you have a favorite chapter, scene or part that you wrote and if so why?
My favorite scene was the prologue...I felt it...I cried over it. It will always be with me.

What do you do while you write? Do you listen to music, watch TV, eat snacks, etc.?
I definitely listen to music. Spotify playlists are my best friends. I drink a lot of Soda..haha

What is up next from K. Pinson?
House of cards is on its way mid August and between the raindrops which is a standalone will be following shortly behind.

Now for some fun questions, name 3 things you never leave home without? (apart from keys & phone)
Lip gloss, my kindle fire and a hair tie.

If you where stranded on a Deserted Island and had a choice of one person to be stranded with who would it be and why?
Oh Lord...Haha I feel sorry for anyone that's stranded on a desert island with me. I guess I'd have to go with my dax....although we definitely would kill each other. Haha. This question is hard!

Butt, eyes or chest?
Ohhhh!! Eyes. I think butts are ugly haha.

Night Owl or Morning Person?
Night owl. Practically have to pull me outta bed in the a.m.

Do you have a favorite BBF (book boyfriend) and if so then who?
It's hard for me to not choose my own characters...my favorite of all time bbf...is kellan kyle. Love of my life haha

Thank you so much for letting us interview you. Do you have anything you want to say to your fans?
I have such a hard time considering the readers fans..I am fans of you all! You make me smile, laugh and just encourage me to keep going on the daily! Thank you for all that you do. Be yourselves...love yourselves...you all are inspirations to me.
